CAS organizes Poster Exhibition, Lecture and Students Presentation on Sustainable Archaeological Site Management

The Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a week long poster exhibition on 'Sustainable Archaeological Site Management' starting from 21st April 2025. Afroza Khan Mita, the Regional Director of the Department of Archaeology's Dhaka and Mymensingh Division inaugrated the event.

This was a student project and is undertaken by ULAB students attending Introduction to Archaeology & Experiencing the Past courses during the Spring 2025 term. This project aims to investigate the concept of sustainable archaeological site management and archaeotourism in Bangladesh. Focusing on various aspects, such as the authority's heritage preservation effort, forms of challenges to heritage preservation, and opportunities for sustainable tourism and community engagement, the students have collaboratively created a photo-based narrative highlighting the importance of sustainable site management practices in Bangladesh. 

On the same day, after the inaugration of the exhibition, CAS arranged a Lecture session. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Shahnaj Husne Jahan, Director, CAS. After her speech Ahmed Sharif, Senior Lecturer & RA, CAS, the course instructor of Introduction to Archaeology, section-2, briefly introduces the student project and invites Ms. Afiath Rahman to present their presentation on behalf of the ULAB Students of her section on 'Reflection of a Heritage Site Visit at Lalbagh Fort'.

After that, a Lecture on Safeguarding the Past: The Role of the Department of Archaeology and the Antiquities Act, 1968 in Preserving Bangladesh's Heritage was delivered by Afroza Khan Mitathe Regional Director of the Department of Archaeology's Dhaka and Mymensingh Division.

After her speech a spontaneous Q & A session was open. At the end, Ahmed Sharif delivers the Vote of Thanks and ends the program. The program was initiated by Kabya Krittika, RA & Lecturer, CAS. ULAB faculties and students actively participated in the day long program.
